Apr 28, 2015 It would be a good idea for you to read up on diff oil in the forums. It is absolutely not the safest option to use Honda's diff oil in our diffs, and especially not to trust whatever the guy at the parts counter gives you. More than a few people have lost a diff to the inferior Honda gear oil - aftermarket is decisively better.
I would like to point out that Amsoil sells multiple variants of 75w-90, it's necessary to get the 'Severe Gear' variant which is harder to find. I put the 'long life' version in the car immediately toasted it (one session of fun on the twisties, less than 100 miles total).
75w-90 would be fine for DD.I wanted to replace it with 90w-110, but I couldn't find it in time. It's currently using 90w-140 - probably better because I live in Texas and do track and autox. It didn't affect my MPGs - still 23 normally.
